PERSONAL

Born as an Al-Edrus, she's a proud grand daughter of Syed Abdullah Al-Edrus, a recognized writer and journalist from Singapore.  Her late grandfather was the owner and founder of a publishing company named Qalam, which produced a lot of intellectual pieces written in Jawi.  Inherited from the icon, she is very passionate about writing and sharing, but differ from her late grandfather, her writings are more of feature writings than news reporting.  She adores the spirit, efforts and talents of her grandfather, and definitely is one of her idol.

EDUCATION

Born in Petaling Jaya, Sharifah Faheera or well-known as HEERA is a graduate from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (P) Sri Aman, a highly reputable secondary girls school.

When Information Technology was a hot field back in 1997, she decided to ‘migrate’ from being a passionate Malay Literature student to IT for her Diploma.  Having an interest in Multimedia contributed to her decision. She obtained her Diploma in Information Technology from INPENS College Yayasan Selangor in Shah Alam, which is now famously known as UNISEL.

For her never-ending passion towards writing, she then pursed her study in Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons.) Journalism in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Shah Alam in between her early career days.

She considers herself fortunate to have had a valuable experience of being a part-time student in between the struggles at work. Being awarded as a First Class student was the greatest achievement repaying all the hard works.

CAREER

In terms of career development, she has been in the Training and Development field for more than 10 years where she was involved in variety of areas as in Sales & Marketing, Customer Service, Events Coordination and Management, Administration, Writing and Composition, Consultation, and Communication.

Being a dynamic person, she quit from Training & Development and ventured into the show-business industry.  She specialized in live performances in various scales, events coordination and management, as well as vocal training in international schools – altogether for approximately 6 years.

Shifted to the education industry, she then pursued her career with The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) as a Human Resource Executive specializing in Professional Development. She focused on the overall planning and coordination of in-house training and workshops, induction programs, overseeing promotion process for the Academic staff, and personal development and performance review along with performance improvement plan – as well as other Human Resource related scopes.

She continued to seek for more opportunities to learn by shifting to the Alumni and Donor Relations Office of UNMC as a Communication Officer.  She is currently responsible for marketing and promotions of the department’s events and activities through digital media platforms.  Here, she develops more skills in designing (both printed and online promotional activities), branding, public relations, writing and communication as a whole. Her role is to ensure a smooth communication process takes place both internally and externally.

As the passion for Training and Development is still strong at heart, she continues to contribute to the professional and personal development for not only staff but also students.  As one of the HRDF certified trainers of the University, she has initiated a few development programs organized by the University:

  • A spokesperson for the New Staff Induction Program

  • Personal Development and Performance Review Training

  • Performance Improvement Plan

  • Dignity at Work Policy

  • Nottingham Advantage Award – Developing Skills for Working in Public Relations Module, specializing in Image Branding and Promotions using Digital Media.
